Dr. Mary Fluke

Dr. Fluke has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was a youngster.  She thought she would practice on farm animals and horses...imagine her surprise when she ended up specializing in dogs and cats!  She earned her BA from Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio, and graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986.  She completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Purdue University before moving to Charlotte in 1987.  She enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice, but often finds herself focusing on surgery and behavioral issues.

Dr. Fluke is a charter member of the Carolina Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen Club and enjoys showing her PBGVs.  She does scent training and competes in hunting trials.  She is also a board member of Samaritan House, a recuperative care facility here in Charlotte, where people who are homeless may stay to get well after being discharged from the hospital.

When not working or cleaning up after her dogs, she can be found in her garden, repainting her living room, or playing music with the Charlotte Folk Society

Dr. Kari Hyatt

An interesting thing happened to Kari Hyatt after earning her BA in Art History and Studio Art from Wake Forest University and becoming an award winning Architectural Student from NC State.  She realized her passion was for the care and healing of animals.

A varied resume including the care of Asian Elephants in Thailand, emergency care for critically injured or ill pets back in the States, and intensive surgery experiences for small animals, have prepared her for the profession of taking care of the animals of families who are as passionate about their own pets.

After receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University in 2005, Dr. Hyatt has practiced small animal medicine across North Carolina. The lure of family and the opportunities Charlotte has to offer brought her to share her calling with Mallard Creek Animal Hospital.

In her spare time, Dr. Hyatt loves to read, draw, travel, and has taken on many home improvement challenges. She and her husband share their home with their daughter Harlowe, two dogs, and 4 cats.

Dr. Rebecca Johnson

Dr. Rebecca Johnson decided at four years old that her profession would be veterinary medicine. A graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, her special interest includes internal medicine and endrocrinology. She has enjoyed over 20 years of practice including owning a busy animal hospital in Atlanta, and eight years in the Lake Norman Area.

Dr Johnson is an avid reader and also enjoys knitting, photography and scrapbooking. She mostly enjoys spending time with her children and is often found cheering them on at the ball field, cross country route or pool.

Dr. Johnson and her husband live in the Highland Creek Area with their two children, one cat, two dachshunds, a Petite Basset Griffon Vendeen and an amazon parrot.

Laurie Anne Walden, DVM

Dr. Laurie Anne Walden

Dr. Walden has been with Mallard Creek Animal Hospital since 1995. She grew up in South Carolina and received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina. She earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine from North Carolina State University and then completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Auburn University.

After several years as a full-time veterinarian, Dr. Walden now works at Mallard Creek part time and also works from home full time as a self-employed medical writer and editor. She considers herself lucky to be doing two jobs she loves: helping pets and working with words.

Dr. Walden lives in Charlotte with her husband, two children, and two dogs (one of unguessable heritage and one Walker coonhound who probably landed at the shelter because he doesn't like loud noises other than the ones he makes himself).

Donna Pintye Practice Manager

Practice Manager Donna Pintye comes to Mallard Creek Animal Hospital with over 25 years of experience in management in pediatrics.  She often compares her small human patients and experiences with our furry friends.

A native New Yorker (with lovely southern qualities), Mrs. Pintye received an AAS in Community Service from Ulster College in New York and a BA in Business from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1971.

Along with Dr. Green, Mrs. Pintye is responsible for managing the business aspects and personnel of Mallard Creek Animal Hospital.  She says her favorite perk of the job is "puppy kisses."

She loves to travel and is a gourmet cook.  This combination has taken her to study with chefs in New York, France, and Italy.  When not whipping up a spectacular dish or an employee into shape, Mrs. Pintye enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

She shares her home with a Schnauzer Reilly, a Shepherd Kutcha, a Collie Molly, and a stepson.

Merlin

Merlin has been with Mallard Creek since 2007.  He loves playing host at the front door when everyone comes in.  He has learned to bark with the dogs, meow with the cats, and "wolf whistle" at everyone. His very favorite noise is the fire truck.  Please stop by and whistle a tune with him.
