There are times that traditional Chinese medicine can augment our standard treatments. Acupuncture is a technique used to balance the body's energy or Qi (pronounced "chee"). A disease or pain can disrupt the normal flow of Qi causing an imbalance. Acupuncture uses tiny sterile needles inserted into specific points based on the patients symptoms. These points initiate the release of neurotransmitters that allow for the flow of Qi and help the body to heal itself. Research shows that acupuncture is helpful for promoting tissue healing, decreasing pain, decreasing inflammation, immune support and hormone regulation. Acupuncture is very safe and treatments take around 30-45 minutes. Results will not be seen immediately but are typically seen in 3-5 treatments.

My boxer, Rocky, had such a hard time walking around and seemed very tired all the time. At twelve years old, he has several ailments including a liver mass, arthritis, and hypothyroidism. Before beginning acupuncture, he wasn’t enjoying walks and I had a hard time getting him to eat. He started acupuncture in August of 2019 and has turned completely around.
